For the last couple of months they have been working hard on the 'poshed up' harbour. Last year they tore down the ramshackle bars which we rather liked and we all wondered what would happen next. Well designers from Ankara were busy with their ideas and it looks as though it will be rather smart with terraces and travertine flooring costing 70 lira per sq.m. A lot of money has been poured into this project. The opening day will be 15th May and there is still a lot to do but there are loads of workers beavering away. I am looking forward to seeing the finished masterpiece next month.
I'm a big fan of ramshackle establishments too. I can get shiny and new at home, and when I'm in Turkey, I'm on the look out for something a little more rustic. Hopefully the area will retain some charm... looking forward to seeing the end result of the local "improvements"
ReplyDeleteYes we were sad when they vanished, the town is being 'poshed up' at an alarming rate and two new marinas are planned. Thankfully ramshackle can still be found around the peninsula.
